Should the Indian Act be dismantled?


It’s a piece of legislature that’s shaped the lives of Indigenous people for decades. The Indian Act has been around almost as long as Canada, but one leading Indigenous trainer says it’s time for change.

In a new book, 21 Things You May Not Know About the Indian Act, Bob Joseph argues that a self-government is the way forward.
