The Amazing Race Canada

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a Hero? Who do you consider a Hero?

A Hero is someone you admire.  They are someone who has made a difference for their family, their community or their country.   A Hero could be a first responder or military service person, or they might be a family member, a teacher/coach, mentor or a neighbour.  If you are a Hero, apply now!  If someone is a Hero to YOU we want to hear about them and they should apply.

Why are you looking for Heroes?

For five seasons, The Amazing Race Canada has told some incredible Canadian stories and introduced audiences to Racers who became summertime heroes challenging themselves in every leg of the Race. This season we’re focusing on finding a new slate of heroes from all across Canada for audiences to celebrate and be inspired by.

What is the minimum age requirement to apply to be a Racer/Team?

Applicants and nominees must be 19 years of age by April 1st 2018.

Can I nominate one person or does it have to be a Team?

You can do both.  If you know of a single person you think would be great for the Race then please tell us about them.  Or if you know a team then we want to hear about them too.

What is the minimum age requirement to nominate a Racer or Team?

You can nominate a Racer or Team if you are 13 years of age or older.  However, if you are between the ages of 13 to 16  you will be required to have your parent and/or legal guardian agree to the Bell Media’s Website Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions  when submitting your nomination.  You will also be required to provide the name and email address for your parent and/or legal guardian, which will be used to confirm that your parent and/or legal guardian has agreed to your nomination.

Do I need to be nominated to apply for the Race?

NO!  You and your Teammate can still apply for the Race.

Why does the Nomination process exist?

It was created based on feedback from our fans who have wanted a way to suggest Teams they think would be great for the Race.

Do I need to be a Canadian Citizen to Race?

You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada.

When will I find out if I have been selected to participate in the next round of the casting process for the Race?

Applicant Teams who have been selected to advance in the casting process will be contacted as early as November 2017 and as late as January 2018.

Will I be contacted regardless of whether or not I make it to the next round?

Due to the large number of applicants for The Amazing Race Canada, we are unable to contact each applicant team.  We will only attempt to contact those applicants who are selected to move forward to the next round of the casting process.

Is there a cost to submit an application or nominate a Racer or Team?

NO!  The Amazing Race Canada does not charge ANY fees to submit an application, nor use any external casting agencies that charge any fees to applicants for submitting applications. You just need to follow the How to Apply or How to Nominate instructions on this site.

When do they film the show?

This season of the Race will be filmed in April and May of 2018.

If I applied for previous seasons of The Amazing Race Canada, will my old application be considered for the following season?

NO! Our database of applications restarts at the beginning of every casting call, so your old applications are no longer on file. So you will need to record a NEW VIDEO and submit a NEW APPLICATION for Season 6. Teams CAN apply in multiple seasons with whatever partners they choose.  Teams are required to make a new video for their application for this season to show us who you are RIGHT NOW and why you want to be a team on THIS season of The Amazing Race Canada.

Can I apply more than once, with several different teammates?

You can submit applications with as many DIFFERENT teammates as you wish, however we advise that you pick the ONE person that would make the best and most interesting teammate. The Amazing Race Canada is a show about relationships, as well as a race across Canada and the world, so your teammate should be someone close to you; probably not the co-worker that you have only known for 3 months.

Do I need a professional video made?

NO!  You can make your own video with the help of your friends and family or you can just make your video on your smartphone or web camera.  You can also record your video directly on the application site if you choose, within the time constraints provided.

Just remember we want to see BOTH members of the team in the same video, and only one video can be submitted per application.

I am not able to upload my video, are there any special requirements to do so?

Please ensure your video is 100MB or less and in one of the following file formats: mpg, mpeg, flv, avi,mp4, mov, 3gp, wmv, mv4. If you are having any technical difficulties with your video upload, please contact for assistance.

Am I allowed to post my video publicly on Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook or other sites?

NO. Due to the confidential nature of the series, you must keep your application video private while the casting team reviews applications.  If you are selected as one of the Teams competing on season six of The Amazing Race Canada, you will not be allowed to publicly announce your status until a formal press release is issued by the Bell Media Inc.  Teams MAY BE DISQUALIFIED for breaching confidentiality.
