The first season of JANN (catch up on the entire season here), the comedy based loosely on Canadian crooner Jann Arden’s life, hit some pretty high notes with viewers during its six-episode first season. And as the most-watched comedy series in the 2018-19 TV season, it was no real surprise that the show was quickly renewed. But the network isn’t stopping with Season 2.
Hot on the heels of the announcement that eight new episodes of Jann will return as a part of CTV’s fall schedule comes the news that the show has also been renewed for a third season. Are fans truly surprised? The show has proven to be a bit of a “Wonderdrug,” after all.
Surprised or not, Arden’s on-point, self-deprecating humour is back and all indications point to these episodes as being worth the wait. Especially as the first season left us all wondering whether Jann would go off on that world tour or stay behind to help her mom as her sister was put on bed rest following pregnancy complications.
The new season picks up immediately following those cliffhangers, as Jann tries to repair relationships with her family and rediscover her fame. Who says you can’t have it all, right?
As if that weren’t enough to get excited for, the new season will also feature Jann’s long-time “rival,” Sarah McLachlan, as herself, as well as Elisha Cuthbert (Happy Endings) as a school board parent. Last but not lease Keshia Chanté is also stopping by as an up-and-coming singer who may or may not also find herself opposite Jann as the story unfolds.
As previously announced the season (which was shot in Calgary) also features returning stars Zoie Palmer, Deborah Grover, Patrick Gilmore, Elena Juatco, Jason Blicker, Sharon Taylor, Alexa Rose Steele, Ceilidh MacDonald and Keaira Pliva.
