If anyone knows his way around a television series, it’s Scott Foley. From the coming of age drama of Dawson’s Creek and Felicity to the high stakes intrigue of The Unit and Scandal, he’s been a TV staple for two decades. In Whiskey Cavalier, he once again takes centre stage, but he shares the screen with a worthy partner/rival.
Described as “a high-octane, hour-long action dramedy,” this series “follows the adventures of tough but tender FBI super-agent Will Chase (codename: ‘Whiskey Cavalier’), played by Scott Foley. Following an emotional breakup, Chase is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca ‘Frankie’ Trowbridge (codename: ‘Fiery Tribune’), played by Lauren Cohan. Together, they lead an inter-agency team of flawed, funny, and heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance, and office politics.”
After establishing that this series is situated somewhere between Bond and Bourne territory (but with a more pronounced emphasis on comic relief), the trailer introduces the title character to Cohan’s Frankie, and all hell breaks loose. Dividing their time between sexual tension and physical combat, this duo develops a good-natured rapport—that leaves plenty of room for future deceit and betrayal. Even as they cement their unlikely bond, the chain of command in this partnership remains a point of contention.
You can watch Foley and Cohan work through their differences when Whiskey Cavalier premieres mideason on CTV.
