Here’s the thing: Alec Baldwin isn’t exactly known for pulling his punches, holding his tongue, and keeping his foot out of his mouth. Recently, the outspoken and progressive actor-turned-popular-podcast-host has become known for his left-wing politics, his spot-on Trump impressions... and his semi-frequent public temper tantrums. We’ve lost count of the number of times Baldwin has gone into a self-imposed exile from his favourite social media platform, Twitter… he’s in one now, actually. But all that unpredictability and volatility (and intelligence and humour) makes for really great television.
Not only that, but Baldwin has proved himself an excellent interviewer with the ability to pull in big-name guests. A sneak peek/trial run of his talk show aired last March with guests Jerry Seinfeld and Kate McKinnon and on his podcast he’s welcomed icons like Barbra Streisand, Paul Simon, and Patti Smith.
ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey told Variety, “What’s great about what Alec does is he’ll talk with people about the span of their career.”
The Alec Baldwin Show airs Sunday nights at 10 p.m. ET beginning this fall on CTV. It will feature in-depth interviews with some of the world’s biggest celebs—plus Baldwin’s take on some of the topics currently dominating the headlines. But will there be Trump impressions? We’ll be tuning in to find out.
