Trading Cantaloa, Spain for Miami Beach, this American adaptation of the original Spanish series, Gran Hotel, moves the action, drama, and steamy hotel room escapades across the Atlantic to Florida for an even hotter take on the world of luxury travel.
Here’s what we know according to the official synopsis: “Eva Longoria executive produces this bold, provocative drama set at the last family-owned hotel in multicultural Miami Beach. Charismatic Santiago Mendoza owns the hotel, while his glamorous second wife, Gigi, and their adult children enjoy the spoils of success. The hotel's loyal staff round out a contemporary, fresh take on an upstairs/downstairs story. Wealthy and beautiful guests bask in luxury, but scandals, escalating debt and explosive secrets hide beneath the picture-perfect exterior.”
The original series was set in the early 1900s, but this will be a thoroughly modern reinterpretation—think: sexy night swims, soap opera-worthy behaviour, seemingly evil stepmothers, shirtless Miami Beach bods, itsy-bitsy bikinis, and shiny, completely unaffordable automobiles.
Grand Hotel will have a summer premiere on CTV.
