The Vancouver Police Department issued an alert Monday evening after two 10-year-old girls went missing from Captain James Cook Elementary School.
Deanna Lloyd and Chloe Zhu were last seen at 12:30 p.m. at the southeast corner of the school grounds.
Lloyd was wearing a light green jacket and a brown t-shirt with white pants and dark brown boots. She has light brown shoulder-length hair and brown eyes.
Zhu was wearing a blue winter jacket, a light green shirt with blue jeans and pink boots. She has long black hair and dark brown eyes.
Authorities believe the girls may have headed into a wooded area near the school. Police officers and dogs are currently scouring the area.
Cook Elementary is located at 3340 East 54th Avenue in the Champlain Heights neighbourhood.
Anyone who sees the girls or has any information on their whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
