PORT-OF-SPAIN — Maybe minor tinkering, but not a total overhaul.

That's Prime Minister Stephen Harper's assessment of Canada's greenhouse-gas plan heading into a major United Nations summit just days away.

Harper told reporters on the final day of the Commonwealth summit in Port-of-Spain that he doesn't forsee major shifts in Canada's greenhouse-gas targets ahead of climate meetings in Copenhagen.

The prime minister says Canada's targets to lower emissions are "virtually identical" to those set by the Obama administration in the United States.

He says it's essential to keep the Canadian and American targets in line since Canada aims to synchronize its climate-change regulations with the U.S.

Harper and other leaders head home today as the Commonwealth summit in Trinidad and Tobago comes to a close.
