Doc based on Naomi Klein's 'Shock Doctrine' to screen at Sundance

TORONTO — A documentary based on Toronto journalist Naomi Klein's book "Shock Doctrine" will make its North American premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
The film, adapted by directors Michael Winterbottom and Mat Whitecross, will debut Jan. 28, 2010 in Park City, Utah.
Festival organizers say the screening will be followed by a conversation with Klein, the filmmakers, and festival founder Robert Redford.
Klein's "Shock Doctrine" accuses big-business and free-market policies of promoting chaos and crises for economic gain, pointing to such world-changing events as Iraq's civil war, the 2004 tsunami in southeast Asia, and the devastation of Hurricane Katrina as examples.
Klein defined herself as a one of the most outspoken opponents of corporate globalization with her scathing 2000 book "No Logo."
The Sundance Film Festival is expected to release its full line-up in December. It runs Jan. 21 to 31, 2010.

I applaud the budget, even though Health Care and education may stay unscathed. Sadly this cannot last and I worry to later this year where cuts will become enviable. If anything, this provides the Wildrose Alliance plenty of ammo when an election is called.
