TORONTO The Pulitzer and Tony-winning play "August: Osage County" makes its Canadian debut tonight in Toronto.
Estelle Parsons stars as the pill-popping matriarch of a dysfunctional family that comes together when her husband disappears.
The 81-year-old, who won an Oscar for her supporting role in 1967's "Bonnie and Clyde," is blowing away critics with her role in the play.
She says the role has been a "gift," one that she can't imagine she'll receive again in her life.
Parson says once the tour for the show ends, she may perform at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in southwestern Ontario next summer.
She says she's always wanted to work there and there have already been discussions with the artistic director about which plays she'd be interested in doing.
"August: Osage County" runs through November 15th at the Canon Theatre.
