WETASKIWIN, Alta. Sentencing has been postponed until the new year for a man charged in the drive-by shooting and wounding of a toddler on a central Alberta reserve.
Christopher Crane pleaded guilty earlier this year to aggravated assault and other charges in the shooting of Asia Saddleback on the Samson Cree reserve in April 2008.
The 19-year-old man was scheduled to have a sentencing hearing in Wetaskiwin, Alta., this week, but his case has been set over to Jan. 25.
Court heard Crane was in a car with two other people when he fired a shot at a home that went through a wall and struck the little girl as she sat at the kitchen table.
Asia, who was 23 months old at the time, recovered from her wound but doctors were unable to remove the bullet.
A youth under the age of 18 has already been sentenced for his part in the shooting.

I applaud the budget, even though Health Care and education may stay unscathed. Sadly this cannot last and I worry to later this year where cuts will become enviable. If anything, this provides the Wildrose Alliance plenty of ammo when an election is called.
