TORONTO — Automakers Hyundai and Ford continued their Canadian sales momentum in October, posting double-digit increases compared to a year earlier.

Ford Canada says it sold 18,201 vehicles in October, up 20 per cent year-over-year.

This marks the company's fifth consecutive month of sales gains.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Canada sold 8,415 vehicles in October, up 43 per cent compared to October 2008.

October was Hyundai's 10th straight month of double-digit sales increases and its ninth straight record-breaking month.

Other automakers are expected to release their sales results throughout the day.
