Oh, please! Leave the girl alone. Unless she had a contract to promote Twitter, she can do what she likes. She does not owe anyone to continue adding personal clips from her life. That's what her autobiography will be for.

Teenage pop star Miley Cyrus has released a homemade rap video explaining why she deleted her account from the popular social networking site Twitter last week.

The 16-year-old singer's departure from the site puzzled many of the 1.1 million Twitter followers she had accumulated.

"Yeah the rumours are true, I deleted my Twitter," she raps in the video, in front of several teenage girls dancing in unison. "Can you believe it?"

To a loud beat, she rhymes that it wasn't her friends who told her to delete her account.

"The reasons are simple," Cyrus continues in the video. "I want my private life private -- I'm done tryin' to please."

Her father, country music star Billy Ray Cyrus, has encouraged her to start using the website again.

On Thursday, he tweeted that Miley "can't leave everyone now."

"You are a light in a world of darkness," he wrote. "We r countin on u."

However, Miley Cyrus' Twitter account remains inactive.

"FYI Liam doesn't have a Twitter and he wants ME to delete mine with good reason," read one of her final tweets. She was likely referring to Liam Hemsworth, her co-star in the upcoming movie "The Last Song."

Miley Cyrus had been using Twitter frequently to post short messages on topics ranging from snapshots of her daily life to her favourite song lyrics.

Now the social networking site is flush with comments from fans who say they miss the teen pop star.

"Twitter is not the same," wrote one fan.

"I miss her so much," wrote another.

Publicists for Cyrus and her father have so far declined requests to comment on the matter.

For the sane scattered across the planet who have absolutely no interest in the mindless voyeurism and narcissism that plays a central part of "social networking" conduits like Twitter and Facebook (show me a Twitter or Facebook addict and I'll show you a bozo in desperate need of a life), this young female celebrity's intelligent independence is refreshing.

Must be the weekend for this is a non-story. A story with little news, little news and above all little or no value.

I am always dumbfounded with people that actually get upset over someone they don't know. "I miss her so much"? Give me a break people. If we would only invest the same energy that we spend on caring about celebrities lives, towards our own lives, the world would probably be a better place.

Must be a slow news day for a marginally famous person's Twitter exploits to be a Top Story.

This is news worthy of reporting??!?!?! Really? Seriously, if the spoiled talentless prima donna wants to close her Twitter account, that's her perogative. The fact that she makes "a video rap" to make a mountain out of a molehill, just shows what a delusional, egotistical puppet she really is. Kudos to Radiohead for giving the brat a dose of reality. And great marketing by Disney in "making" a talentless brat into a multimillion dollar puppet. It's amazing what the recording industry can do to make a banshee sound like an angel (anyone who has heard her sing "live" will surely attest to - although she lipsynchs most performances now...thank God).

way to go! take a step out of the cyber world and back into living, breathing life !i left facebook last year, i will never be a twidiot! these sites suck up your time and intelligence and invade your privacy. i am a much happier person though i do have 'friends' who exclude me because i no longer live in their realm! i don't have a daughter or really know anything about this girl but with her being a teenage girl role model, this could be a good thing! if miley leaves these sites and their cyber bs behind and encourages girls to have real conversations with real people (instead of those girls who sit next to each other on the bus and text each other, what a waste of time and brain cells) then perhaps we could begin to see a change in our tweeny generation, there may be some hope left for them because right now i have very little faith in their ability to become well rounded functioning adults!get your nose out of twitter & facebook and into real life!

Who.....cares? She's way too over publicized to begin with , it would be nice to have less of her on one more social networking site. Here's to her axing more of herself from the internet.

Well I hope she comes back soon. I've been checking on the hour to see if she's back yet. I loved reading her twits on my I-phone. Her twits were the best and really lightened my dark days. Please Miley don't let me down. I have all your songs and sing them as loud as I can when driving my BMW home from work with my pal Fidel. The rest of you are just haters...just stop hating!!!

I was hoping for something a little more scandalous, but if this is the reason, non-story.

What I find distasteful is that "Daddy" is encouraging her to become active on twitter! talk about dysfunctional! Let the kid have a life and you should be supportive of her decision to be off twitter!!

Maybe this could be the start of time when people live in their own moment. FB me, Text me, IM me, Tweet me, Message Me....How about just "Talk to me." Put down your cell phones when you're with a group of people and live in the moment. Enjoy the conversation to be had with your friends that are with you at the moment. I can't help but laugh when I see a group of four people and they are all texting somebody else and not talking to each other.

Please...yay she deleted her Twitter account who the *** cares. Get over Miley. She is not that good of a singer or star anyways. She is in the spotlight anyway so get a magazine or read People Online. You'll survive with out her Tweeting to you so called 'fans'. Leave her alone ok... it's just an account.

I don't listen to Miley Cyrus, but I did think that YouTube video was quit. The video itself looks like something a teenager would make for a high school project. Something a teenager would make while goofing around. Which is exactly what Miley Cyrus is, a teenager who should be allowed to be a teenager.

This is a moral test for voters in the municipal election. Electing him will be a stamp of approval for his actions. I strongly believe that the first thoughts should be for the person he has publicly humiliated, his partner. By his conduct he has made of himself, merely, a footnote in the election.
