Blake shares his choreographic skills with Cookie Couture.
Blake McGrath meets Cookie CoutureUpdated Fri. Oct. 24 2008 8:08 AM ET Lindsay Zier-Vogel, CTV.ca Blake McGrath's been busy. Not only has he been judging and choreographing for So You Think You Can Dance Canada, he's also been lending a hand on the MuchOriginal program, disBAND. disBAND-Aid The show, disBAND follows a group trying to 'make it' in the music business for one week and puts them through Much rock star training. At the end of the week, the group performs in front of a group of experts who either tell them they have what it takes or they should 'disBAND.' During the episode that aired on Thursday October 23, the group Cookie Couture tried to get their act together with the help of a cast of professionals. Not only did the five-person girl group go through vocal boot camp to work on their stamina, they honed their look and style with the successful group, Girlicious, along with some help from McGrath's choreographic eye. "Turn it up a notch" "I thought the girls had a lot of potential and was really glad I had the opportunity to work with them," McGrath says. "Their choreography was already pretty good, but I got to help them turn it up a notch." McGrath's key message was for the girls to change their levels as they danced. "It makes things more interesting and opens up the stage," McGrath notes. "It makes the whole performance more dynamic." Confidence! Confidence! Confidence! "Another thing I helped the girls with was making them believe in themselves. I think confidence is always the most important thing," McGrath adds. And he says this advice does not just apply to singers, but also to the dancers on SYTYCDC. "If you go out on stage with confidence, people will believe you. You might be the best dancer in the world, but if you're lacking confidence, people won't watch." Blake Struts the Catwalk Right after disBAND, SYTYCDC's Top 16 results show hit the air and then McGrath was off to kick off Fashion Week with the gsus fashion show. "I love everything about their clothes," McGrath says of the company. "The clothes are so young and trendy. They fit well and feel good." gsus featured their 2009 spring line that fuses the elegance and class of Saint Tropez with the vibrant lifestyle of Brazil. "I can't wait to get out there. Hair and make-up and let's hit it!" McGrath says.
