Allie Bertram

Voted off in Finale

Calgary native Allie Bertram is thrilled to be part of the So You Think You Can Dance Canada Top 20. "I want to show Canada how much I love to dance," she says. Trained in classical ballet, Allie is a graduate of the International School of Ballet and is excited to represent the style on the show.

Allie is eager to put in the hard work it takes to become Canada's favourite dancer, knowing it will take a "killer" personality. "You need to be positive, take criticism well and, most of all, just enjoy it."

Supported by her family, friends and dance teachers, Allie is ready to tough it out in the competition. Along the way, Allie looks to her father for inspiration. "From my Dad, I have learned to set goals and know that anything is possible if you set your mind to it." It looks like Allie set her mind to being one of the Top 20 competitors.

Having just come from the Boston Ballet, Allie is happy to be back in Canada and looking forward to competing with so many talented Canadian dancers, though she admits the competition has been challenging. "Lack of sleep and a demanding schedule can bring out some raw emotions."

Although she's eager to forge her own dance career path, Allie would love to one day work with choreographer Mia Michaels, whose work is seen on the U.S. version So You Think You Can Dance. But given the chance to perform with any artist, Allie says it's a tie, "Fred Astaire and Baryshnikov - both were inspirations in the dance world."

If she could meet anyone though, it would be actress Audrey Hepburn. "She had style and grace, and her pearls and black dress look is what I'm all about." And viewers can expect Allie to channel that grace into her dancing, along with some hometown spirit. "The people in Calgary are absolutely the friendliest...and you gotta love the Stampede in July!"

Ready to stampede the So You Think You Can Dance Canada stage, Allie reminds herself of one thing before she performs, "To show the audience that I love to dance."
