Dion dousing notion of Liberal-NDP coalition

VANCOUVER -- Liberal Leader Stephane Dion faced more questions today about whether he's prepared to enter into a coalition with the NDP and the Greens.

Dion did a round of media interviews in Vancouver, telling Citytv that he's focused on winning the election for the Liberals and becoming prime minister.

But his message was being undercut by one of his own -- former party president Stephen LeDrew, who says the Liberals need to have a "near-death experience" to shake up the party and ensure its continued survival.

Dion didn't address directly the notion of leading a coalition to unseat the Tories, but suggested the Liberals might not be able to work with New Democrats.

He says the NDP's insistence on corporate tax hikes makes co-operation all but impossible.

Dion told UBC students Tuesday night that he can work with anybody, but praised Green Leader Elizabeth May as courageous for saying she could support him as prime minister.
