TORONTO -- As many expected, hip-hop mogul P. Diddy rocked eTalk's massive festival party, proving to all in attendance he is indeed a "bad boy for life."

Clearing the red carpet for his performance, the bash turned out to be the city's largest free block party of the year.

Once the red carpet re-opened after Diddy's performance, Canadian singer Chantal Kreviazuk rushed down the line while fashion designers Dean and Dan Caten whisked by in matching DSquared2 suits.

Belly, in his trademark glasses and bling, was one celeb who doesn't mind the attention of the gathered press.

"I look forward to the red carpet. It's one of the perks."

CTV's own stars, including the cast of "Degrassi" and "Instant Star," showed off their fashion wits by looking cool and calm while "Flashpoint" stars Enrico Colantoni, Mark Taylor, Hugh Dillon and Michael Cram looked dapper in darks.

Time to explore

The courtyard at 299 Queen St. was brimming with fiery femmes and handsome gents lined up to get drinks.

"I've been standing here for 20 minutes. The lineup isn't moving," said a beautiful, six-foot blonde.

The bar was 15 feet away, so I decided to move on inside.

After hitching a ride on the elevator (the stairs were packed to the brim with socialites), I reached the third floor -- a.k.a. the eTalk studio.

A remixed version of Madonna's "Give It to Me" floated down the hallway. I followed the beats until reaching hundreds of people at the end of the corridor... this was the real party.

Pushing my way through the crowd, I overheard a conversation that made me turn back.

"What's going on with the bathroom?" a voice shouted.

"Someone important is in there," retorted the burly, six-foot-six, approximately 250-pound security officer standing in the washroom nook.

Seconds later an entourage of normal-looking people piled out of the ladies' room, followed by Lindsay Lohan.

What?

Lindsay Lohan! I knew she'd be around, since her rumoured-girlfriend and DJ Sam Ronson was rocking the turntables. The chances were slim that I would be inches away from her -- or so I thought.

I tagged along behind their train as the crowd parted like the Red Sea. The music was pumping, and all around people danced. The Lohan entourage disappeared at the DJ stage behind another burly six-foot-six security officer. Where are they getting these guys?

Bravely I asked the guard if I could snap a picture or perhaps talk to her... but no dice.

"Not tonight," he said in an unexpectedly demure voice.

I turned to catch a glimpse of Ronson on stage, wearing her usual white high top sneakers and oversized Freddy Kruger-esque sweater.

Sixty minutes, one drink, and a bathroom break later -- I wasn't getting any closer to the reputed lovers.

But as Toronto-born Olympian Alexandra Orlando (voted sexiest Beijing star) said on the red carpet, "Nothing comes easy."

And she's right. I made one more attempt to sweet talk my way to Lohan, and I failed.

But there's always next year.
