U.S. Republican presidential hopeful John McCain's camp released its second ad since Democrat Barack Obama announced Sen. Joe Biden for his choice as running mate, questioning why Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton wasn't picked.

The latest ad questions Obama's motives in passing over Clinton, his chief rival for the nomination, and deciding on Biden, who dropped out of the race after the first contest in Iowa.

Released early Sunday, the ad features clips of Clinton during the primary battle criticizing Obama. "Senator Obama's campaign has become increasingly negative," it had her saying.

An announcer said: "She won millions of votes but isn't on the ticket. Why? For speaking the truth."

Chief Obama strategist David Axelrod, who appeared on ABC's "This Week," said the senator has a "high regard" for Clinton, who will be an "important voice in moving this country forward in the next administration. But he felt Senator Biden would be the best fit for him at this time."

Caroline Kennedy, a member of Obama's search team, said "Joe Biden was absolutely the best" choice, adding that Clinton is an admired figure who Obama will need in Senate.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Biden has "the full package," and is someone who has challenged the status quo.

"He's even criticized Senator Obama, so it's a tribute to Senator Obama that he's not just choosing a yes man but a person who will speak what he believes," she said.

Biden is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Potential swing-state governors Tim Kaine of Virginia and Bill Ritter of Colorado, who appeared on "Fox News Sunday," also supported Biden's selection.

Kaine, who had been on Obama's short list for a running mate, said Obama and Biden were "a good team personality-wise. They complement each other well. I think you're going to see them really enjoying being out on the trail together."

Ritter said Obama and Biden would help the ticket, particularly with independent voters in the West.

McCain, an Arizona senator who has yet to announce his running mate, told CBS News Sunday that Biden was a "wise selection." But McCain was critical of Biden's decision to vote against the first Gulf War and the notion that Iraq should be divided "into three different countries."

Biden returned to Delaware after the first joint appearance Saturday in Springfield, Ill., where Obama began his campaign in early 2007.

Obama resumed campaigning with a scheduled stop in Wisconsin in the run-up to accepting the Democratic nomination for president in Denver Thursday.

Obama's challenge

Dennis Goldford, professor of political science at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa said Obama's challenge will be to connect with the individual during his speech.

"While he tends to fly high in the clouds when he addresses people, which is part of his charm for many people, he's got to be able to make people watching believe he is talking to each one of them individually," Goldford told CTVNewsnet. "He's got to establish that one-on-one connection because that's what he's had difficulty doing so far."

Sen. Clinton played on the lack of connection, and Sen. McCain will do the same. Therefore voters need to feel they have a sense of Obama, even if it's through television or radio, Goldford said.

The convention will fall on the 45th anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King's legendary "I have a dream" speech.

Goldford said Obama followed King's notion of "people of different backgrounds being able to live together harmoniously" in his 2004 speech, disregarding red or blue and calling for a united States of America.

Obama will most likely continue in the same vein but talk in more concrete terms about what his presidency would mean to the everyday person, he said.

Clinton is slated to speak at the convention, which will be important because she still has a large number of supporters, he said. But if she and former President Bill Clinton don't make an honest effort to unite the Democrats, it will reflect poorly on them and cost future party support.

Obama painted as a the next Britney Spears all show and no substance, I think intimidated by having a woman give him advice.

Some of the cards Obama played against Hillary were from the bottom of the deck and there is some hard feelings there.

Obama talks about joining the country but now he has divided the democratice party and he has raised the gender fairness issue under his leadership.

Bararack rejected Hillary's ideas not her personally.

Barack wants a hard left turn.

A Hillary / Bill Clinton ticket would beat the celebrity Barack Obama formerly known as Barry.

It looks like Clinton is still available for a VP position. If the McCain camp is asking "why not Clinton" maybe they should pick her as the GOP running mate.

Clinton's lied too much Hillary landing under sniper fire and Bill said he never had sex with that woman.

It is tough to find a democrat that has not been caught lying too much to still be credible. Joe Blow likes to talk and talk, and gets all his donatations from Lawyers who creat nothing but legal bills.

Joe Biden did get caught a few years ago ripping off a speech from Niel Kinnock not crediting him and the plagerism cost him the nomination in 2004.

Hillary needs to call the rejection Hot Line, but she will say she supports Barack but its just not credible.

Hillary came in 2nd, but first in our Hearts

Hillary supporters hate the Obama campaign group because Obama suggested Bill Clinton usedf racsim, when Bill Clinton said Jessie Jackson also won that state but lost the nomination after Obama won a southern State.

Florida votes did not count that would of put Hillary ahead, because they held thier primary too soon.

HILLARY 4 PRESIDENT IN 2012

This is leadership at its finest. Barak didn't give in to the Hillary threat, the action many would have taken to avoid reprocusions from the Hillary camp.
He chose Joseph Biden. Another person with staunch christian beliefs. His political Bio should be read if you comment. Joe has an endless list political achievements and a long list of personal heartbrakes. Like i have said you have to read his bio. He is also admired by the blue collar worker, who in my opinion are the people that will make the difference in this election.

McCain should worry about his own campaign. If he thinks Hillary is so qualified, let him add her to his ticket and see how well he fares in November

I think the reason he didn't pick Hillary as vp candidate is if he wins the election, he doesn't want to have to fight to be president any more once the election is over.

To Brooke,
So sad, why do you have to use the sexist card. He knew that if he chose Hillary he would have to deal with Bill. This would lead to inhouse fighting and
wouldn't be very effective in fixing what Bush has left behind. You have to come to term with the fact that he beat Hillary fair and square.

McCain should choose Hillary as his VP candidate. That way the USA can have 4 more years of morally and financially bankrupt Bushite demagogery and continue to slide into oblivion of the American Empire. The media is too blinkered to see or speak the truth.

What? McCain wants a soft VP? It is not upto him to suggerst who Obama picks. As no DEM tell him in his picks. That a political weapon to provoke some narrow minded people or to just say some foolish things like this one. I never seen any intellegent word or speach or AD come from McCain, Is he loosing his mind? Or the guy with 10 condos only thinks about his wealth? I am a woman this is not about a woman leadership but just playing a political game. Who ever loves Hillary why don't they support her finanancially. $1 X (18 million= pays her debt instantly. The other thing Obama doesn't owe her anything. There were other women who run for ellection before. No body says to the winner you owe her or him something. WHY NOW BENDING EVERY RULE WHEN IT IS OBAMA. ALL THESE FUSS WHEN IT IS OBAMA IT IS NOT FAIR. ctv WHY?

Hillary was done in by the U.S. mainstream media, who clearly favoured Obama in the primaries. Only Fox News gave her a fair shake (surprise, surprise), and received plaudits for being 'fair and balanced' from her campaign people. The other media fell in love with Obama's soaring rhetoric, and Hillary, despite being better qualified, was history.

Obama and Clinton may seem ldeal but would not gel. Both have aspiring personalities that would only conflict. McCain's camp is trying to cause dissent within the voters.

I think and hope John McCain will be the president of the umited states until 2012. I think John McCain is better than Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.I think Joe Biden is a alright pick of Barack Obama but I think clinton would have been very tough on Barack Obama so thats why he didn't pick her.Thats his Choice alright.

I find it interesting that a black man who supposedly understands the struggles and prejudices that minorities face to get to where he is has turned his back and chosen a middle aged white male as his running partner. What kind of change is that?

2008, the year journalism died.
The media's whitewash of Obama is pathetic. They try to downplay every story that might make him look bad and hang on his every vacuous word.
It's like being at a Tom Jones concert, the media are basically throwing their panties up to Obama.

Women - Back handed Slapped in the FACE

Obama doesn't care about the female voters he snubbed us.

Obama has shown a complete lack of respect for women and our desire to have a woman on the ticket, instead of more lip service he has a chance to show some meaningful action, and he snubbed us.

What a backhanded slap in the face!

Senator McCain and the Republicans are hyprocrits. If Senator Obama had chosen Senator Clinton, the Republicans would of come out swinging. Mr. Obama made the best for himself, which will elect him President on November 4th.

You can't trust him?

On the economy he is a clear and present danger, a radical, untested, whats he hiding?

Lets hope we never have to find out.
