Adam Castelli first competitor to be eliminated from Top 10Updated Wed. Jul. 16 2008 5:10 PM ET Sheri Block, CTV.ca The first competitor to be eliminated from the Top 10 is Adam Castelli from Hamilton, Ont. Adam received the fewest number of votes from the previous night's performance show that featured the music of David Bowie and would not be moving forward. He was joined in the bottom three by Sebastian Pigott and Mookie Morris, both from Toronto, Ont. Canadian Idol host Ben Mulroney first wanted to hear from the judges before announcing the results. "Jake, are the bottom three here because they were the worst performers, the weakest singers or maybe because they didn't pick the right songs for their voices?" said Ben. "I think two of the three didn't live up to the expectations that I had for them," said Jake Gold. "I'll say it right now I thought Adam gave a great performance. I thought the other two could've done way better." Ben wanted to hear Farley Flex's analysis. "I would agree with Jake somewhat. I also think that straight up Toronto's gotta get out and vote," said Farley. Ben wanted to hear from Sass Jordan who gave the best performances. "Among my favourites were Katherine, Earl and I loved Mookie," said Sass. Ben asked Zack Werner what the two competitors who stay should take away from being in the bottom three. "Well that perhaps they might want to move to another city," said Zack. "What I think they should take away is that do not go out there and leave any idea unturned, give it absolutely everything. Be as desperate as you can be." And then it was time for the results. "Canada voted and the Idol heading home tonight is Adam Castelli," said Ben. "Mookie and Sebastian, you're safe for one more week." "It's been such a pleasure having you here," Ben said to Adam. "It's been so much fun getting to know you. It's a shame it had to end so quickly. We'll see you back at the finale." Ben asked Adam if there was anything he wanted to say to his friends, family or fans. "I just want to thank everyone for all the support. It's been a great ride and I didn't plan on doing a song tonight so no motorcycle tonight," said Adam. He finished off the show with a performance of "Rebel Rebel." Earlier in the evening, the Canadian Idol Top 10 performed a medley of David Bowie songs. Sebastian Pigott, Theo Tams and Adam Castelli performed "Golden Years," Mitch MacDonald, Mark Day, Amberly Thiessen and Katherine St-Laurent sang "Changes," and Drew Wright, Mookie Morris and Earl Stevenson sang "Fame," before the whole group launched into "Modern Love." Ben next introduced the crowd to special guests Enrico Colantoni and David Paetkau from CTV's new series "Flashpoint," which debuted at number one in Canada. The show also took a look at what happened backstage the night before when the competitors met up with Jully Black.
