An Ottawa barber and one of his longtime customers are set to share a $32 million cash prize after winning Saturday's Lotto 6-49 jackpot.
Seventy-one-year-old Mike Detorre -- who is now being called the "wealthy barber" -- and 57-year-old Samir Haddad, a hardwood flooring installer, say they've played the lottery together for years and bought hundreds of losing tickets before purchasing Saturday's winner.
Haddad says although the reality of becoming a millionaire is yet to sink in, he is happy he can push any money worries aside.
"It's not the idea that whatever you want you can go and buy it now; it's just that you can relax," he said.
The winning ticket was a quick pick bought on the day of the draw from the Ottawa South Grocery on Sunnyside Avenue.
For nearly 40 years, Haddad says he's been going to Detorre's barber shop. Instead of leaving a tip, the two would share a lottery ticket.
"It just happened to be my day Saturday night," Haddad told CTV Ottawa on Thursday.
Detorre has since closed his barber shop and is taking a break from the limelight.
"According to him, now whoever wanted the place can get it for nothing, just come and get the keys," Haddad said, referring to Detorre's barbershop.
Both men say they plan to share their winnings with close family and friends.

I applaud the budget, even though Health Care and education may stay unscathed. Sadly this cannot last and I worry to later this year where cuts will become enviable. If anything, this provides the Wildrose Alliance plenty of ammo when an election is called.
