Oliver PigottUpdated Thu. Jul. 10 2008 12:16 AM ET Voted off Top 16 For Oliver Pigott, the elder of the Pigott brothers, the experience of competing on Canadian Idol this year won't be very different than the healthy dose of sibling rivalry he's already used to. "The best memory I have of my brother, Sebastian, is when I beat him at bowling because he stepped over the line," Oliver smirks. "Don't ask him, because he'll deny it - but I have witnesses." If you do ask Sebastian you'll get a very different story, but it's part of the good humour the duo bring to Canadian Idol. If there is one thing you can learn from either brothers' account of the situation though it's that bowling is a very important Pigott family pastime. For Oliver, having fun and not taking himself too seriously is a big part of what he feels will lead to his Idol success. "I want to show the viewers a good time," he says. "I'm really glad for the opportunity to continue working with so many talented people." Oliver has lived in many places around the world, from London, England, to Praia Da Luz, Portugal, and Los Angeles. Being well-travelled has helped him learn more about what he feels is so great about being a Canadian musician. "We Canadians have such compassion and understanding," he says. "No one writes a song like we do!" Famed musician Tom Waits is an inspiration to Oliver. "He does everything without reservation." The experience of auditioning for Canadian Idol can be a taxing one that requires a lot of drive and determination. As always, Oliver has approached it with keen wit. "Sleep is overrated," he says jokingly of what he's learned so far from this experience. But it's an experience he's grateful for, that much is certain.
