For Sebastian, competing in Canadian Idol with his brother, Oliver, will be an experience of a lifetime, as getting to play music together again is something he's looking forward to. But ask either of the Pigott brothers, and it seems like a playful rivalry has been renewed by competition - a rivalry that seems to have begun in a bowling alley some time ago

"I remember when my brother disqualified me from a bowling match because I stepped over the line with my toe. Everyone said it was stupid, but he insisted I kept doing it."

All bowling rivalries aside, Sebastian thinks that the experience of auditioning for Canadian Idol has made him a better and more confident musician, and he wants to bring a fun attitude to the competition. In fact, Jacob Hoggard's performances contained the energy that Sebastian would like to bring to his own performances this year. "He looked like he had a really good time, and that is really important."

Musicians like David Bowie and Jerry Lee Lewis are among Sebastian's favourites, along with the band Weezer.

Outside of music, Sebastian writes in his spare time. He's written a series of plays with a Toronto theatre company, acting in two of them and directing one. "Writing a play isn't all that different from writing a song. The best thing with writing is when you can just let it come out and not edit yourself too much."

On Canadian Idol, Sebastian knows that ultimately, family will always come before the competition. "Family is the most important thing, but being the best in the family is pretty good too."
