St. Thomas police are continuing their search for a one-month-old girl who has been missing since Thursday morning.

Abbygail Elizabeth Dice, who was born on August 22, 2007, may be wearing a pink-and-orange striped jumper. Police say she has dark hair.

On Thursday, police conducted an extensive search of the area around 88 Confederation Drive in the southwestern Ontario city of St. Thomas.

Const. Jason Geddes of the St. Thomas Police told CTV.ca the search is ongoing.

"Our senior officials with police service are meeting with other agencies like search and rescue...to narrow the search to specific areas for Abbygail," he said.

A-Channel London reported the child's mother was found unconscious in a second-floor apartment before being taken to hospital.

Geddes added that that the child's family has been co-operating, and detectives have spoken with the child's mother, who remains at a medical facility in the area.

The mother's name has not been released.

An Amber Alert has not been issued, Geddes said, because certain criteria need to be met.

That includes confirmation that the child has been abducted and "enough description of Abbygail Dice and a suspect or suspect vehicle, if a suspect is involved." Geddes says.

Anyone with information is asked to call St. Thomas Police at 519-631-1364 or Crime Stoppers at 519-631-8477.
