A British Columbia elementary-school principal will return to his administrative post on Monday after district officials ruled the naked photos of himself posted on the Internet were simply a misjudgment.
Mark Classen was reinstated as principal of Harrison Hot Springs Elementary School after he mistakenly sent a link of nude photos of himself to a student's parent.
"Mr. Classen is going to be reinstated as of Monday, June 18th," Natalie Lowe-Zucchet, a spokesperson from the Fraser-Cascade School District, told CTV News on Thursday.
"The vast majority of parents are very supportive of him and have let us know in a multitude of ways and times that they want to see him back," Lowe-Zucchet said.
Classen stripped down on a deserted beach while on vacation with his wife in New Zealand and posed for an artistic shot that he later posted on his personal website.
The principal was put on paid leave in April after he inadvertently emailed a parent the link to his site.
Some parents at the school believe Classen should not be returning to Harrison Hot Springs School.
"As a principal, you are someone you look up to and you have to be careful what you do," Cynthia Walker told CTV News.
Walker believes the website photo was more than just an error in judgment, but is a reflection of the principal's character.
"There are several parents who are upset. They do not want the principal back, they do not trust him and they are very upset with his actions," Walker said.
While Classen will return to the school next week, Walker's children will not. She has removed her kids from Harrison Hot Springs Elementary School.
District officials said Classen was disciplined for the incident but declined to specify what the disciplinary action was.
Classen, a married father of two and nature lover, has since taken down the website.

I applaud the budget, even though Health Care and education may stay unscathed. Sadly this cannot last and I worry to later this year where cuts will become enviable. If anything, this provides the Wildrose Alliance plenty of ammo when an election is called.
