Nelly Furtado will celebrate Canada Day on CTV's broadcast of the "Concert for Diana" as one of five more acts announced for the greatly- anticipated memorial concert event.

Airing live on CTV on Sunday, July 1 from Wembley Stadium in London, England, the "Concert for Diana" will also feature performances by newly announced acts P. Diddy, Tom Jones, Will Young and the legendary voice of Supertramp, Roger Hodgson, who graced the Canadian Idol stage last summer.

Broadcast live in Canada exclusively on CTV and around the world to millions of viewers in over 140 countries, the day-long event also features previously-announced performers Elton John, Duran Duran, Bryan Ferry, Joss Stone, Pharrell Williams, Lily Allen, Kanye West, Rod Stewart, Natasha Bedingfield, The Feeling, James Morrison, Orson, Status Quo and Take That. The acts starring at the concert reflect both Diana's and Prince William and Prince Harry's favourites.

In recognition of Diana's love of ballet and musicals, the concert will also include a performance by the English National Ballet and a musicals medley specially devised by Andrew Lloyd Weber and featuring a number of surprise cameo appearances.

The event has been devised by Princes William and Harry as a celebration of their mother's life as plans continue to unfold for a memorial service marking the Princess of Wales' death 10 years ago on August 31, 1997. The date of the concert, July 1, would have been the late princess' 46th birthday.

"It's fitting that this very special and personal celebration of the life and work of the Princess of Wales will air on Canada Day on CTV," said Susanne Boyce, CTV President of Programming and Chair of the CTV Media Group. "The Princess not only shared a birthday with Canadians but also an affinity for making this world a better place in which to live."

When they announced the concert last December, William and Harry explained that, 10 years on from their mother's death, they wanted to celebrate her life and commemorate her achievements.

Prince William said, "We wanted to have this big concert...full of energy, full of the sort of fun and happiness which I know she would have wanted. And on her birthday as well, it's got to be the best birthday present she ever had."
