A divorce application filed by the wife of Tie Domi, the rough and tough former Maple Leaf, names politician Belinda Stronach as the primary reason for the couple's split.

In the 20-page document, Leanne Domi alleges her husband and Stronach, an MP from Aurora, Ont., have been involved in an "intimate sexual relationship," that began when he started "working in her political campaign in January 2006."

The couple has been married for 13 years; however, the date of their separation is unclear. Some reports claim he separated from his wife more than a year ago.

In any event, Stronach is referenced many times in the document that was filed in court this week, according to The Globe and Mail.

The document asserts that Domi asked her husband to leave their home in July because she suspected he was lying about his relationship with Stronach.

She says in the document that a friend saw Stronach and Domi walking together on Madison Avenue in Manhattan in July "with Tie carrying their packages after what must have been a full day of shopping."

Domi told his wife he was attending a charity golf tournament at the time, she claims.

Domi, a longtime Leafs enforcer, recently retired from the team.

During a news conference this week, he refused to be baited on the question of whether he was involved with Stronach, saying he would prefer to discuss his hockey career as opposed to his personal life.

Domi's wife is seeking custody of their three children and a preliminary $15,426 per month in child support, based on an annual income of $1 million, until his specific income is determined. On top of that, she is asking for $30,000 per month in spousal support.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.

Stronach, the daughter of Frank Stronach, who owns autoparts supplier Magna International. She is the chair of the Liberal Women's Caucus. She has been married twice and has two children.
