A missing CFL kicker's family says he has contacted them and they know his location.
Duncan O'Mahony, who recently signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, didn't show up at training camp on Saturday.
He was last seen at Calgary's airport on Friday.
In a Monday news release, the family said O'Mahony is safe, and asked for privacy so they can "bring this situation to a close.''
Neither the football club or Ross Gurney, O'Mahony's Vancouver-based agent, have commented yet.
Brendan Taman, the Blue Bombers' general manager, said his team is concerned about O'Mahony, but has to start looking for a new kicker.
When he last spoke with O'Mahony, Taman said there was nothing in the conversation that would suggest anything was wrong.
O'Mahony is a five-year CFL veteran and had spent the past two seasons with the B.C. Lions.
The 29-year-old was supposed to fly from his hometown of Abbotsford, B.C. to Winnipeg on Friday.
The flight had a stopover in Calgary where O'Mahony was supposed to meet a friend for dinner, then continue on to Winnipeg to begin training camp on Saturday. However, he did not show up for the dinner.
"Duncan O'Mahony hasn't shown for training camp due to personal issues," said O'Mahony's family in a statement made through the Blue Bombers earlier on Monday.
"We are having difficulties in reaching him. There is a concern for his welfare. We therefore ask that anyone who knows where he is either contact the family or the club."
TSN's Cory Woron said that O'Mahony definitely arrived in Calgary, but did not respond when he was paged before his flight to Winnipeg. At that point, his luggage was pulled from the plane.
Woron reported that O'Mahony spoke to the team Friday and was excited about joining the Blue Bombers.
"The Bombers (general manager) said that he was very excited, he wanted to know details, who he was meeting at the airport, he wanted to know his sweater number and how things would be working," said Woron.
"He was excited to have another opportunity to play after being released by the B.C. Lions and all accounts were that he was looking forward to going to Winnipeg and wanted to be a part of the Bombers this year."

I applaud the budget, even though Health Care and education may stay unscathed. Sadly this cannot last and I worry to later this year where cuts will become enviable. If anything, this provides the Wildrose Alliance plenty of ammo when an election is called.
