The band Great Big Sea will be going ahead with their B.C. concerts after a tour bus carrying the band flipped over into a ditch near Vancouver.
"It was a scary moment," guitarist Bob Hallett said.
"I think everyone was terrified. When you're in a band everyone has heard stories about bus crashes and plane crashes. It's a lot of fun to play music, but it's not worth dying for."
The accident occurred on the TransCanada Highway, about 80 kilometres east of Vancouver on Thursday at 11 a.m.
The bus flipped when traffic slowed down in front of it and the driver pulled onto the shoulder to avoid hitting the cars in front.
"The driver came upon a line of traffic that suddenly stopped and he knew if he kept going he would have crushed the cars in front of him," Hallett said.
The Newfoundland-based band was on its way to Vancouver after playing a Wednesday night sold-out show in Calgary.
Only the driver of the bus was slightly injured and was taken to a local hospital for a check up.
Guitarist Sean McCann was not on the bus because he flew to Vancouver.
Hallett said everyone realized what was going to happen and had a chance to grab onto something before the bus flipped.
The accident tied up traffic for hours while police investigated the accident.
Police said the bus was going too fast when it reached a slow point in the traffic. Drugs or alcohol weren't a factor in the accident, but the bus driver may be charged under the Motor Vehicle Act.
There was doubt about whether or not the band could play at The Centre for Performing Arts because their equipment trailer overturned into a muddy ditch. But the equipment was brought to the venue later on Thursday.
Great Big Sea did have to cancel its Kitchen Party contest though. In every Canadian city on the tour, the band's played in the kitchen of contest winners.
Krista Hearn, a Vancouver resident, had spent the day getting ready for Great Big Sea to drop by. She was disappointed, but determined to have a kitchen party anyways.
"We'll just play their music in the background. So, we're still gonna do it," she said.
Great Big Sea will go ahead with their show in Victoria Friday night. But it's uncertain if the band can go ahead with their American tour scheduled to begin next week.

This is a moral test for voters in the municipal election. Electing him will be a stamp of approval for his actions. I strongly believe that the first thoughts should be for the person he has publicly humiliated, his partner. By his conduct he has made of himself, merely, a footnote in the election.
