Fresh-faced country boy Jaydee Bixby has hardly left the stage since finishing his stint on Canadian Idol at number two. In addition to plenty of shows around Alberta, both on his own and with his family band, Jaydee has been wooing audiences across the country as part of the Top 3 concert tour.

In addition to the hectic life of a touring musician, 17-year-old Jaydee has managed to keep his high school studies in good standing. He has been working on his Grade 12 course load through a distance education program, taking English, career/life management and phys-ed while on the road.

His next big plan is to recording a CD "that the people will love to listen to," his mom Shelley recently told Eye on Idol. She said that Jaydee met a Nashville producer at the Professional Championships of Performing Arts competition he took part in last year and have been concocting plans for an album ever since.

"When I auditioned for Canadian Idol... (the producer) said 'go ahead and get your name out there,'" Jaydee said shortly after the finale.

For Bixby, the perfect outcome would be a Nashville-quality record that he could bring back to Alberta, as well as a continued spot in his stage show for the rest of the members of the Bixbys.

"I would love to keep the family band," said Bixby. "When I'm playing in Alberta, I'm always going to have my family band with me. "What I love about it is that it's not stressful. It doesn't have the technicalities... If you want to speed up, you just speed up and the band will follow you."

Bixby, who is already an experienced model and the Grade 9 Jive Champion from his high school, says he'd like to expand his dancing skills and also try his hand in acting one day. He'd also like to one day perform at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry.

"I should do a reality show junket and go on 'So You Think You Can Dance' next," he opined. "Maybe I'll just go crazy on reality television. I'd like to see myself being a successful, well-rounded performer who can do acting, who can do modelling, who can sing and dance even.

"In five years I'd definitely love to have people in Alberta say 'that Jaydee, he's making us proud!'"
