MONTREAL Pop mega-star Celine Dion will donate $1 million US to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which ravaged several southern U.S. states this week.
The money, offered by Dion and her partners Concerts West/AEG and Dragone, come from the receipts of her Las Vegas show, A New Day, her publicist said in a statement Thursday.
The money will be given to the American Red Cross. Dion's publicists would not provide further details.
Dion joins a lineup of entertainers providing aid to the hurricane victims. Benefit concerts to be shown on U.S. TV networks are also planned by some singers.
