Former prime minister Brian Mulroney was in New York City Tuesday, celebrating his latest title -- granddad.
Mulroney's daughter, Caroline, gave birth to a seven-pound, four-ounce baby boy at New York Presbyterian Hospital Tuesday night.
In an interview with the Montreal Gazette, Mulroney said his grandson, Lewis H. Lapham III is healthy, "fantastic," and "looks great."
New grandmother Mila Mulroney and sons, Mark and Ben, were also on hand to be the first to guess who the boy resembles.
"There's good news,'' the former prime minister joked. "I checked the chin. And it doesn't resemble me.''
Caroline Mulroney, 30, made national headlines four years ago, when she married stockbroker Andrew Lapham at a ceremony attended by more than 400 guests including former U.S. president George Bush and wife Barbara, Queen Noor of Jordan and former TV talk-show host Kathie Lee Gifford.
A lawyer, Caroline is now associate director of New York University's Center for Law and Business.
Lapham's father, Lewis Lapham II is editor of Harper's magazine.
