LOS ANGELES — James Van Der Beek, who starred as hopeless romantic Dawson Leery on Dawson's Creek for six years, married actress Heather McComb over the holiday weekend in an outdoor ceremony in Malibu.

Guests at Saturday's ceremony included Van Der Beek's Dawson's Creek castmates Michelle Williams, Meredith Monroe, Busy Philipps, Hal Ozsan and Mary-Margaret Humes, along with fellow actors Soleil Moon Frye, Teri Polo, Essence Atkins and Eric Balfour.

McComb wore a Vera Wang gown, and the groom wore Armani, Van Der Beek's publicist, Cindy Guagenti, said Monday. The reception was held under a white organza tent.

Van Der Beek's uncle performed the ceremony. The groom's brother, Jared, was the best man, and the bride's sister, Jennifer, was the maid of honour.

The couple had two wedding cakes -- a triple-berry flavour chosen by McComb and a toffee-fudge alternative selected by Van Der Beek.

The bride and groom, both 26, left Sunday for a honeymoon at an undisclosed location.

Dawson's Creek ended its six-year run in May. Van Der Beek's movie credits include Varsity Blues and The Rules of Attraction. McComb appeared in Apt Pupil and the TV series Profiler and Party of Five.
