Emily Procter knows her nasal twang is out of place on "CSI: Miami," but says she won't do anything about it. "I have a weird voice, I know," Procter says with a laugh during an appearance on "Live with Regis and Kelly" Monday morning. The self-deprecating actress regularly winds up atop "Hottest women on CSI" lists across the web. Procter says the sound of her voice is the result of a previously broken nose. "People write in, and say they hate it, but I can't do anything about it!" Procter was promoting the arrival of "CSI: Miami" to the airwaves after a lengthy hiatus due to the writers' strike. An original episode kicks off the show's return on Monday, March 24 at 10 p.m. ET on CTV. The North Carolina native admits she consulted with a doctor about going under the knife to change the sound of her voice. However, the doctor suggested that she wait until after she finished her acting career. "I feel so self-conscious about it sometimes," says Procter. The actress plays Det. Calleigh Duquesne on "CSI: Miami," the "Catherine Willows" to her co-star David Caruso's "Grissom," Lt. Horatio Cane. Before finding popularity on television, Procter enjoyed success with two small parts in two very big movies. Procter's first role on screen was a small scene in "Leaving Las Vegas," followed by another short appearance in "Jerry McGuire," both smash hits at the box office and awards shows. "I had one line in each, and they were both [improvised]. I say that if you give me one improv line in your movie, you'll get an Oscar!" "CSI: Miami" is currently in its sixth season after kicking off in 2002. The series is a spin-off of the wildly successful series, "CSI." |
