At the ending of season three, when his character Jack Shepherd became suicidal and grew a beard, the actor claims he knew where the story was heading. "I have a pretty good relationship with Damon Lindleoff ("Lost" producer and writer), and we talk a lot about Jack's life, the [past] and future," says Fox during an interview with eTalk. "We have to talk a lot about how he gets there, why he's there. He just can't tell me, 'Jack is suicidal and standing on a bridge,' so we talk in depth about all of that and we figure it out." The actor, who was introduced to audiences on his TV hit "Party of Five," says that he also never turns to the web to find answers about "Lost." "I never read anything; I've never been to any of the 'Lost' sites. I intentionally do it that way, and I don't think it would be helpful in any way," says Fox. Fox adds that he believes that it's important for the show to remain truthful to the story it needs to tell, "and not get caught up in the expectation that the audience has." One of the expectations that Fox is referring to is the notion that some beloved "Lost" characters could meet their death. The actor says he has the "utmost faith" in Lindleoff to make those types of decisions. "If that meant that Jack was going to go in episode seven of year four, that's what's going to happen, you know?" "Lost" airs Thursday nights on CTV at 9 p.m. ET. |
