Jacob Hoggard is one of the most "unique" competitors you'll meet on Canadian Idol. His definition of the Canadian Idol? "The coolest kid in school – to a much greater degree.

The Canadian he admires most? "The guy in downtown Vancouver who plays instruments he makes out of garbage for quarters." His goals in life? "To start my own construction business, or own a low-budget motel chain across the country."

Jacob says he first started singing "6.35 seconds after I came out of the womb." An apprentice carpenter, Jacob sings in public at work. "Sometimes my employers get irritated, but that doesn't seem to stop me," he says. Jacob says his other talents are "eating and sleeping."

Jacob loves shrimp, The Family Guy, the Vancouver Canucks and Twizzlers. He is "madly in love" with the woman in his life and if he could meet one person in the world, it would be Louis Riel. "I'd ask him who did his red hair," he says.

How would his life change if he became the Canadian Idol? "I'm sure less people would swerve to hit puddles on the side of the road as I walked by."
