Sony BMG Showcases Summer's Biggest Stars with Canadian Idol Compilation CD 'High Notes,' in Stores August 23

Toronto, Ontario (August 11, 2005) - The stars of summer's biggest TV series will now be showcased on a companion CD, Sony BMG Music (Canada) Inc. announced today. -- Canadian Idol Top 10 contribute one track each to compilation CD -- Canadian Idol "High Notes" - featuring a track performed by each Top 10 finalist on the hit CTV series - will be released in stores across Canada on August 23, 2005. To celebrate the release of the ten-track CD, fans will have a chance to meet the Canadian Idol Top 10 at an autograph session at Toronto's Fairview Mall Music World location on August 26, 2005 (details to be announced soon). During the inaugural season, the Canadian Idol Top 11 compilation became the must-have CD of the summer and went Gold in Canada. In Season Two, Canadian Idol winner Kalan Porter's debut CD "219 Days" went Double Platinum. Now, the third generation of Idols presents the songs that captured the hearts of Canadians from coast-to-coast and catapulted them from the semi-finals into the Top 10. The song choices are as diverse as the artists themselves, traversing genres from Country and Rock to Pop and R&B. The two-hour season finale last September reached over 6.6 million people. By the end of the 34-episode run, the series had been viewed by over 17 million Canadians, representing 64 per cent of the English population.
