Suzi's fun facts: Which musical act would you most like to see in concert? Led Zeppelin and Macy Gray
What has been the biggest accomplishment of your life? I've recorded three CDs, opened for Wide Mouth Mason and I've had a baby. What are you the most proud of? I'm most proud of my daughter. Having her, being her mother, who she is, what it took to get here... which is why I wear her name and symbols of her as a badge, tattooed on my arm. Which item could you not live without? I couldn't live without my phone. It's a readily available connection to everyone I love wherever I am. What's been the best day of your life? Again, how do you pick just one....?! The day my daughter was born, was unforgettably joyous...What an experience!! The whole labour... the pain, the drama of complications, etc... and then at the end the first miraculous cry of life... I'd highly recommend it... If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be and why? I've always wanted to sit down and have in depth conversations with Roger Waters due to his creative genius. I'd love to meet Madonna, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin. I think I'm sort of different, other than that, I don't really know what the judges were looking for, because everyone in the competition was amazing. What will it take for you to become the Canadian Idol? It will take strength and serenity. It will take focus to maintain just a good neutral frame of mind. And last but not least, it will take votes. Whose career path would you like to follow and why? Well, I'd like have a successful career like Gwen Stefani, where I can try new things. I'd like to be as daring as Madonna. But I'd like to stand for something like so many artists did back in the 60's. Music is the face of culture and it can change the world. And if I had the chance to successfully be part of it on such a grand scale, I'd like my career path to begin a bit of a revolution, reminding people of the peace and love and union for humankind that was fought for back in the 60's, that many people seem to have forgotton. Open minds, and help create true freedom within individuals. Not that I could do that, but this thinking can spread and perhaps I could help with that. What part of the Canadian Idol experience has surprised you the most? The people and their kindness. Everyone being so helpful to eachother among competitors and otherwise. Like, we're all in this together... everyone has been amazing. What did you learn about yourself during the Top 100? That I'm not as tough as I like to think I am. The stress and intimidation really got to me in a way I didn't think I would allow. But I couldn't help it. What was your reaction when you made the Top 32? Well, I was overwhelmingly releived, but it was wierd... I was sort of stunned... I had been balling my eyes out before I found out... it was all too much.... There are toooo many people to mention. My parents, Randy, my fellow band mates, my community (many of whom are musicians), other artists... the world, this life... everything is filled with inspiration.... And I'm lucky enough to be surrounded by so many amazing free spirits that have given my inspiration and nutured my being... Who has helped to make you the singer you are today? It would have to be the people I've jammed with so much over the years. My father has played a major part in developing my abilities... My friends Miko, Mariko, K'an, Nancy, Jonny T (my guitar player that I've worked with since I was 17 or something), Matt (my bass player that I've been in another band with as well) , and JR ( my former guitar player and friend)... I am surrounded by many talented musicians all the time.. I'm so fortunate... What song touches you the most? Why does it affect you so much? Ugh! There are so many.. the first one that comes to mind is Sail Away (I think it's called) by David Grey... because I'm a hopeless romantic.. What do you do to keep your nerves in check during the competition? Meditate. How has this competition changed you? Well, it's a very humbling experience... I think it's made me more aware and grateful. Which words or phrases do you most overuse? Surrender.... |
