Luke O'Reilly
Age: 17 "I want to do music as a career for the rest of my life. For someone coming from a small town like me, Canadian Idol is a great opportunity to enter the music industry." Luke O'Reilly says he began singing as "as soon as I was out of the womb." In reality, he is a student of Canadian rock icon Ray Lyell. Luke made it to the Top 48 of Canadian Idol last year and has sung the national anthems for the Toronto Blue Jays, Hamilton Bulldogs and Brock Badgers. A Grade Twelve student at McKinnon Park Secondary, Luke is an accomplished athlete and also works part-time at Canadian Tire. He plays guitar, drums "and a bit of piano." He likes to play his guitar and write songs in his spare time. Luke says if he had the opportunity he would love to see The Beatles or Bob Marley in concert. If he could meet one person, Luke says it would be Sarah Michelle Gellar. "She can do high kicks, she is hot, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer is my favourite TV show!" His favourite book is The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and his favourite food is strawberries. Luke cheers for the Hamilton Tiger Cats and just got his driver's license. "Stay off the roads when you see me coming!" he says. Who is Luke's Canadian idol? Shania Twain, he says. "I would love to follow her career path. She worked hard for everything that she has received. She loves music and has maintained a down-to-earth attitude. She's great!"

What has been the biggest accomplishment of your life? Canadian Idol has been the biggest accomplishment of my life What are you the most proud of? I am most proud of my Canadian Idol journey. Which item could you not live without? I don't think I could live without a shower. What can I say? I love clean! What's been the best day of your life? I have two favorite best days of my life. My first favorite day is the day I got my license and my other favorite day is the day I made it into the Top 32. If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be and why? I want to meet Sarah Michelle Gellar because she can do high-kicks, she is hot and Buffy The Vampire Slayer is my favorite T.V. show. She's the whole package! I think my hard work and musical background have gotten me this far in the competition. What will it take for you to become the Canadian Idol? What has been the most challenging part of the competition so far? The most challenging part of this competition so far have been the late nights, and most of all, new friends being eliminated. It's gut wrenching. Whose career path would you like to follow and why? I would love to follow in Shania Twain's career path. She worked hard for everything that she has received. She loves music and has maintained a down-to-earth attitude. She's great! What part of the Canadian Idol experience has surprised you the most? The elimination rounds in Canadian Idol have surprised me the most. What did you learn about yourself during the Top 100? I learned that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and work hard. What was your reaction when you made the Top 32? When I made it into the Top 32, I went crazy. I didn't know which way I was going. Actually, I don't even remember what I did, other than jumping up and down like a madman. My parents have been the greatest inspiration of my life. They are extremely hard working individuals and support everything that I do. Who has helped to make you the singer you are today? My vocal coach Ray Lyell and my parents have helped to make me the singer that I am today. What song touches you the most? Why does it affect you so much? "The Baby" by Blake Shelton touches me the most. Every time I hear the song, I put myself in his shoes and it's sad. It affects me so much because I never want my momma to die like his does in the song. What do you do to keep your nerves in check during the competition? I try to remind myself that the judges are people, and they have feelings too. I just go out there and pretend I'm singing in front of all of my friends. How has this competition changed you? This competition has helped me grow as a person. It has made me realize that dreams are possible. Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
