Runner-Up Theresa Sokyrka and Finalist Manoah Hartmann Kick off Saskatoon Canadian Idol Auditions

Toronto, ON (February 17, 2005) -Saskatchewan's Top 10 Canadian Idol finalists Theresa Sokyrka and Manoah Hartmann will kick off the hit series' first visit to Saskatoon at a free, early-morning concert on Monday, February 21 at the Centennnial Auditorium, it was announced today. Sokyrka and Hartmann will perform at 8 a.m., the call-time for starry-eyed hopefuls planning to audition that day. Saskatoon is the third stop on Canadian Idol's 13-week, 13-city audition tour that will travel to every province of the country as well as the Yukon Territory. **Media Note** - High-resolution photography and program information about Canadian Idol can be found online at www.idolpix.ca. Monday's breakfast concert will feature highlights from Sokyrka and Hartmann's electrifying Top 10 finish in Canadian Idol's second season. Sokryka will also perform an original composition and will accompany herself on guitar. The hour-long concert will be hosted by Canadian Idol host Ben Mulroney and comedic correspondent Jon Dore. Theresa Sokyrka brought national attention to Saskatoon last summer with her amazing journey to the finale of Canada's biggest singing showdown. Since then, she has made numerous appearances and performed throughout Canada. In December, Theresa traveled half way around the world to participate in a concert for the Multinational United Forces bases located in Northern Egypt. On January 1st of this year she earned the distinction of being being named "Saskatchewan 2005 Centennial Youth Ambassador." She has been busy in the recording studio working on her debut CD, set for release in mid-spring, and will embark on a seven-date mini-tour through Ontario in March. As announced earlier, auditions for Canadian Idol are open to all Canadians between the ages of 16 and 26 (inclusive) as of February 1, 2005. Prospective competitors are encouraged to visit the Canadian Idol Web site, www.idol.ctv.ca, to RSVP for the auditions. As well, competitors should download and complete a Regional Release Form which is required to audition (Release Forms will also be available at the auditions). As of today, applicants can also find on the Web site Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), audition tips, and the complete rules and regulations. The best resource for competitors is the Forums section, where applicants can learn valuable information and advice from previous hopefuls. Canadian Idol - Saskatoon Auditions Competitors from outside of Saskatoon are reminded that Greyhound Canada is offering 25 per cent off return travel to the Canadian Idol auditions. To receive the discount, each passenger is required to download and complete a discount certificate from the Canadian Idol Web site at www.idol.ctv.ca. Passengers should then present the certificate to any Greyhound Canada agent. This special is also extended to family and friends that wish to accompany competitors.
