Kalan Porter inks deal with BMG Canada Inc. and Vik. Recordings
Kalan Porter signs record deal with BMG Canada Inc. president Lisa Zbitnew and Vik. Recordings After taking the Canadian Idol title from nearly 9,000 aspiring singers, 18-year-old Kalan Porter has inked a recording contract with BMG Canada Inc. and Vik. Recordings. Porter wasted no time kicking off his new career as radio stations flooded the airwaves the day after the Medicine Hat native's win with his new single, "Awake in a Dream". The commercial single, expected to hit stores in October, was written by Adam Alexander, Rupert Gayle and Chris Perry -- the trio that penned Ryan Malcolm's debut single, "Something More". Ivan Berry, A&R for BMG Canada, spoke about Porter's journey to becoming a full-fledged recording artist. "I've had the pleasure of working with Kalan Porter on the winner's single, "Awake In A Dream". I've also followed the show closely and seen Kalan go from auditions to a brilliant vocalist/performer with ultimate heartthrob appeal," Berry said. "It's going to be a pleasure working on the debut album and I have extreme confidence that the album will be of superior quality, with hit songs, and amazing vocal performances for this young superstar." According to BMG, a special Medicine Hat hometown event and a nationwide promotional campaign for Porter are currently in the works. Click here to read the full press release. |
