Shane's Q&A
GROUP 4 Name: Shane Wiebe Age: 21 Occupation: Perogie Salesman Hometown: Abbotsford, BC Audition city: Vancouver
When did you first start to sing? When I was two years old I had a cousin in the hospital. I don't remember this, but apparently whenever my family visited him, I would sing for him. What is your favourite song to sing? "End of my Journey" by Harry Stewart. What CD would your friends be surprised you own? Green Day's "Nimrod". Who in the music world do you think your style is most like? I honestly can't think of whom I would be most like in the music world. How would your friends describe you? I'd like to think my friends would describe me as punctual yet spontaneous. Responsible yet fun. Besides performing, what other talents do you have? Cooking, gardening, conflict resolution. What are your goals in life? In life I want to love the Lord, love my wife, love my children and love the people of the world. I know it sounds like I'm running for Miss America, but if I keep these priorities straight, everything else falls into place. On a more specific note, I want to travel unceasingly, learn more about world history, get my MBA and, oh yeah, be the next Canadian Idol. My definition of a Canadian Idol is: Someone that brings something to Canada that's never been brought before in the way they sing, act, and love music. Who is your Canadian Idol? Celine Dion. When she gets on stage, she allows herself to be so vulnerable. The passion she exhibits is second to no performer. Who in the Canadian Idol Top 11 did you identify with the most? I don't think I watched Canadian Idol regularly enough to accurately answer the question. I didn't have cable at the time. What are your greatest strengths entering this competition? My ability to adapt to and learn new music styles. What is your biggest fear regarding this competition? That I would compromise who I am and what I truly believe, in an attempt to become something the judges or the country is looking for in an "Idol". If you don't make it on Canadian Idol, what will you do? I'll continue singing, just like I am now. I have never anticipated being some super-famous pop star, so in essence, my life won't change much. But don't get me wrong though, I'll be disappointed. How would your life change if you were to become Canadian Idol? I have a hard time even imagining it. I honestly have no idea how my life would change. I'd probably sell more perogies. |
