Shane Wiebe - 2004 Top 5
|
Shane Wiebe has a great idea for a TV show starring himself and fellow Abbotsford Top 32 competitor Jacob Hoggard. "We couldn't be more unlike," says Shane. "He's careless, I'm careful. He's impulsive, I'm logical. He'd rather be climbing up the side of the CN Tower while I'd rather be enjoying a cup of peppermint tea with friends."
Nevertheless, the two have become quick friends who have supported each other through the competition. Shane first began singing at the age of two when visiting a cousin in the hospital. Shane would sing for him, and the nurses would line up outside the room to listen. Shane's style is a mixture of Jazz, Classical and R & B "with a hint of country." Shane wants viewers to know that nothing he believes in is worth compromising. "My biggest fear is that I would compromise who I am and what I believe in an attempt to become something the judges or the country is looking for in an idol," he says. Shane sells and distributes frozen food – including perogies – and is also studying business administration at the University College of the Fraser Valley. He is a licensed pilot, plays volleyball and baseball, loves pizza, and likes to cook, garden and go camping. His biggest accomplishment? "Finding the perfect woman, actually getting her to fall in love with me, and marrying her," he says. "That's one heck of an accomplishment." |
