It's the third straight year for the Junos on CTV following groundbreaking stops in Ottawa-Gatineau last year and St. John's in 2002.
The 2004 Juno Awards, will air across Canada Sunday, April 4, 2004 at 8 p.m. (9 p.m. in Atlantic Canada) on CTV.
And this year the show will be repeated at 12 midnight ET (check local listings).
Once again, CTV is enormously proud to be host broadcaster of The 2004 Juno Awards.
The 33rd Annual Awards telecast will originate for the first time ever from the province of Alberta, and Edmonton's Rexall Place.
Last year's Juno awards telecast, hosted by Shania Twain in Ottawa-Gatineau, drew 2.2 million viewers, eclipsing both the Grammy Awards and The American Music Awards to become the most watched, music-based awards show in Canada.
In addition to the two-hour Awards telecast, CTV will produce and broadcast CTV At The Junos, a one-hour red carpet arrivals pre-show special airing at 7 p.m. (8 p.m. AT).
Live from Rexall Place, the special will be hosted by Ben Mulroney, popular host of Canada's top-rated entertainment show etalkDAILY. The Canadian music primer will feature exclusive interviews with all the A-list stars as they make their grand entrance.
"In a world filled with musical superstars, Canada has some of the very best. And for one amazing night, Canadians can unite to celebrate our country's fantastic array of musical talent," said Susanne Boyce, CTV President of Programming and Chair of the Media Group.
"For CTV, the broadcast is guaranteed to make The 2004 JUNO Awards an electrifying, must-see event of the television season."
Once again, Toronto-based Insight Productions is on board to take up the challenge of producing the show from Edmonton. Executive Producers John Brunton and Barbara Bowlby and a talented and veteran Junos production team will be at the helm.
"Every year we challenge ourselves to come up with something unique and exciting for our viewers at home and for our live audience," said executive producer John Brunton.
"It's our aim to lead the industry, rather than follow, and taking risks is all part of pushing the envelope. Our innovative set design this year allows us to add more music into the show, which is very exciting."
As with the previous two years, CTV promises to utilize its entire slate of cross-promotional resources to support this year's broadcast of The 2004 JUNO Awards. Below is a snapshot of programming initiatives:
