Ottawa
native Kathleen Edwards arrived on the roots music scene with a major
splash via her debut CD, Failer, which earned a JUNO nomination last year.
Her gritty voice and insightful songs have made her a critical favourite
here and in the U.S.. "Most of these songs are coming from my own
experience and from a certain time in my life," this rising star
explains.

Ever since she burst onto the scene in 2000 with her debut, Whoa, Nelly!,
there has been no stopping Nelly Furtado. That album was an international
multi-platinum smash, and four JUNOs and a Grammy (for hit single "I'm
Like A Bird") followed. The eagerly-anticipated second record,
Folklore, sees Nelly stretch her creative wings and showcases Nelly’s
refreshing willingness to explore a wide range of styles. "I like
to navigate through all sorts of genres," she explains. The result
is a perfect brand of global pop, as exemplified by first single "Powerless."

prolific Hawksley Workman wears many musical hats, all with style and
distinction. He's a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer,
label head, poet, and the winner of a 2002 JUNO as Best New Artist. Originally
a darling of the music press, Hawksley has transcended the cult niche.
He is now a bona fide star in Europe (especially France), and played a
sold-out 26 date Canadian tour last year. Workman explains that lover/fighter
"is about a revolution for truth and beauty." |
