Graupner Cantate, Sonate, Ouverture: Instrumental and Vocal Music, vol 2

L'Ensemble Des Idees Heureuses (Happy Ideas) is a nine-piece group headed by much-renowned harpsichordist and artistic director Genevieve Soly. They bring a fresh approach to the music of 18th century German composer Christoph Graupner. L'Ensemble will soon release a new recording, Christmas In Darmstadt.

Gryphon Trio
Murphy, Chan, Hatzis, Kulesha: Canadian Premieres

Now in its 11th year, Toronto piano group Gryphon Trio is rightfully viewed as one of North America's best chamber ensembles. They toured in North America and Europe last year, and their performances are regularly broadcast internationally. The trio's recordings of Haydn Piano Trios and Mendelssohn/Dvorak Piano Trios received glowing notices and two JUNO nominations. On this recording, they perform new works from some of Canada's best composers.

Marc-André Hamelin
Szymanowski: The Complete Mazurkas

The New Yorker once declared that "the hands of Marc-André Hamelin are among the wonders of the musical world." The Montreal-born pianist is internationally renowned for his virtuosity. At home with the standard repertoire, he is best recognized for his attention to lesser-known composers of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. He tours internationally and has an extensive discography to his credit.

Angela Hewitt
Francois Couperin: Keyboard music – 1

London’s Sunday Times has called Ottawa-born, London-based piano virtuoso Angela Hewitt “the Bach pianist par excellence for her generation.” She has almost finished recording all Bach’s major keyboard works, and has extensive international touring under her belt. A previous JUNO winner, Ms. Hewitt was awarded the Order of Canada in 2000.

Mozart * Zukerman
Pinchas Zukerman, Amanda Forsyth, Jane Logan, Kimball Sykes, Jethro Marks, Donnie Deacon, Jessica Linnebach

Pinchas Zukerman has been recognized as a musical phenomenon for four decades. Equally respected as a violinist, violist, conductor, teacher and chamber musician, Pinchas Zukerman is indeed a master of our time. He is artistic director of the National Arts Centre Orchestra, and has an extensive and highly-praised series of recordings to his credit. On Mozart-Zukerman, he plays alongside gifted musicians Amanda Forsyth, Jane Logan, Kimball Sykes, Jethro Marks, Donnie Deacon, and Jessica Linnebach, all members of the National Arts Centre Orchestra.
