Michael Bublé
|
 |
Vancouver-born singer Michael Bublé has raced up international
charts with a stunningly assured self-titled debut CD. It is produced
by hit machine David Foster, who predicts “a very long career”
for Bublé. Michael mixes in standards from the jazz era with
modern favourites, and infuses them with an irresistible swing feel.
His career turning point came when he performed at the wedding of Brian
Mulroney’s daughter.

Celine Dion
One Heart
|
 |
She is the best-selling artist of her generation, having sold an astonishing
total of 150 million albums worldwide. Celine Dion returned from a two-year
hiatus with last year's much-awaited release, A New Day Has Come. The
title track promptly returned Celine to her familiar perch atop the
charts, and the album showcased her mastery of such diverse styles as
pop classics (Nat King Cole's "Nature Boy"), dramatic ballads,
and up-tempo dance music. Dion's upcoming three-year engagement at Caesars
Palace will cement her status as a performer par excellence.

Nickelback
The Long Road
|
 |
With international sales of over 10 million copies, 2001s Silver Side
Up placed Vancouver-based hard rockers Nickelback in the rock elite.
That album featured one of the most-played singles in radio history,
"How You Remind Me." The band is back on top with their fourth
CD, The Long Road, already a double platinum smash here. "We've
pushed things further in every way possible," says mainman Chad
Kroeger of the release. Nickelback and Chad won a 2003 JUNO as Songwriter
Of The Year.

Nelly Furtado
Folklore
|
 |
Ever since she burst onto the scene in 2000 with her debut, Whoa, Nelly!, there has been no stopping Nelly Furtado. That album was an international multi-platinum smash, and four JUNOs and a Grammy (for hit single "I'm Like A Bird") followed. The eagerly-anticipated second record, Folklore, sees Nelly stretch her creative wings and showcases Nelly’s refreshing willingness to explore a wide range of styles. "I like to navigate through all sorts of genres," she explains. The result is a perfect brand of global pop, as exemplified by first single "Powerless."

Sam Roberts
We Were Born In A Flame
|
 |
After
years of heavy dues paid in bands like William and Northstar, Montrealer
Sam Roberts hit the jackpot with 2002's breakthrough independent EP, The
Inhuman Condition. It's verging on gold status and hits like "Brother
Down" and "Don't Walk Away Eileen" showed Sam's range and
melodic gifts. Full-length debut We Were Born In A Flame showed he's the
real deal, a new populist rock hero.
