ISSUES - HOMELAND SECURITY

Borders

Will tighten border security in part by adding biometric identification at the top 50 points of entry, along with increased human and unmanned surveillance. Would with Canada and Mexico to improve border security while speeding up legal and secure passages across those shared borders.

Immigration

Would increase budget to enforce immigration laws better. Would focus on speeding up immigration process. Would put priority on reuniting families. Would increase border patrols to guard against illegal immigration.

Intelligence

Will follow some recommendations of the 9/11 Commission, such as creating a national intelligence director and a national counterterrorism centre. Would renew the USA Patriot Act. Will create a national director of intelligence. Would improve domestic readiness. Would allow the Patriot Act to lapse.

Enemy combatants

Supports labeling U.S. citizens as "enemy combatants."
