BOBSLEIGH

OLYMPIC DEBUT

1924 Chamonix Mont Blanc, France

ORIGINS

Bobsleigh has its roots in tobogganing and was part of the first Olympic Winter Games in 1924. Though Canada had its first bobsleigh run in 1911, they did not begin competing internationally until the late 1950's.

It took a while for women's bobsleigh to catch on, but the first women's world championship took place in 2000 and it was a part of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
