CHRISTOPHER MILLS is known for his video work for Modest Mouse, The Tragically Hip, The Secret Machines, and Interpol, combining live action with animation in a style he describes as 'rumpled country art doctor antiques lover who thinks out of the box yet imagines vast worlds inside it.' He has also created visual work for the Art Gallery of Ontario as well as for The Tragically Hip's stadium concert tour in 2005. He created and directed Macroscopic, a 47-minute experimental documentary about The Hip that was included in 2005's 20-year retrospective, Hipeponymous.
BUFFY SAINTE-MARIE ' A MultiMedia Life'Director - Joan Prowse; Producer - Gilles Paquin. JOAN PROWSE is a documentary-maker with more than 15 years of experience as a writer, producer, director and video editor. She co-founded the independent production company CineFocus Canada to make thought-provoking, inspiring television shows and documentaries. Since then, she has produced and directed more than 20 hours of prime-time arts, biography and social issue programs.
GILLES PAQUIN Paquin began his career in entertainment in the mid-1970s as a successful concert and special events producer and promoter. A decade later, he established Paquin Entertainment Group Inc. in Winnipeg. He continues to manage the careers of Randy Bachman, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Fred Penner, and co-manages Bachman-Cummings. Paquin Entertainment's Agency division represents more than a hundred artists.
CELINE DION 'Live In Las Vegas - A New Day'Director - Jean Lamoureux; Producer - Julie Snyder.
Jean Lamoureux began his career at MusiquePlus in 1988, right when the music Quebec station was launched. He worked with Julie Snyder while producing L’enfer, c’est nous autres. As Producer-coordinator, Jean Lamoureux has worked on Le Poing J, one of the most influential programs in Quebec television. Then, he produced and directed numerous series and special programs, which won him several Prix Gémeaux.
Julie Snyder has already been working in television for more than 20 years. From a community channel to the TQS network (Sortir), via Radio-Canada (L’Enfer, c’est nous autres) and TVA (Le Poing J), Julie has been shaking up the television world and leaving her mark on every channel in Québec, thanks to her many innovative and often groundbreaking ideas as well as her original style.
DANIEL LANOIS 'Here Is What Is'Director - Adam Vollick; Producer - Adam Samuels. ADAM SAMUELS Born in Toronto, Samuels works as a recording engineer based in Los Angeles. Here Is What Is, which he co-directed in 2007, is his feature directorial debut for which he captures the layered sonic landscape that is such a hallmark of Lanois' work.
ADAM VOLLICK Since receiving his first camera at age 6, Vollick has been lost in the magic of photography. A photo assignment with Grammy Award-winning producer and musician Daniel Lanois led to the eventual collaboration of a behind-the-scenes documentary in 2007 demonstrating Lanois' creative process as he developed a new album bearing the same title as the film - Here Is What Is. Vollick continues to explore the nature of our perceptions by exhibiting his form and motion study with dancer Tiffany Mosher (National Ballet of Canada).
MONEEN 'It All Sarted With A Red Stripe'Director - Alex Liu / Greg Benedetto / Kenny Bridges; Producer - George Stroumboulopoulos. ALEX LIU In 2005, Liu followed Moneen through the recording process for The Red Tree, filming a documentary that was released as part of the Moneen DVD, It All Started with a Red Stripe. His list of favourite music: The Shins, Death Cab For Cutie, Sigur Ros, Pixies, Beach Boys, Modest Mouse, and more.
GEORGE STROUMBOULOPOULOS - George Stroumboulopoulos is best known as the host of CBC's The Hour, a current events/interview TV talk show. He has worked at the Toronto sports radio station The Fan 590, at rock radio station The Edge 102.1 and at the music television station MuchMusic.
