Canadian Idol Help the Idols build a house

 

When faced with the serious illness of a child, family togetherness is critical. McDonald's(r) and Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC™) of Canada are teaming up with CTV and the cast of Canadian Idol to raise funds to build a Ronald McDonald Family Retreat™.  Here they can focus solely on each other and begin to get their lives back on track.

Thanks to a generous land donation at Bear Mountain in British Columbia, the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat™ will be the first of its kind in Canada and will support the primary objective of Ronald McDonald House Charities® to keep families together in times of illness.

This summer, a portion of the 10¢ donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities® from the sale of every Happy Meal® goes towards helping Canadian Idols raise funds for RMHC®.
 

Families who go through the ordeal of watching their child suffer a serious illness encounter numerous difficulties themselves. Family life is often put on hold while the child faces difficult hospital treatments. The whole experience is emotionally, physically and financially draining for all involved.

Now imagine the additional challenges faced when families of those seriously ill children live far from the children’s hospital.

Designed to alleviate undue stress and to provide emotional support, Ronald McDonald House® offers families a warm, compassionate and comfortable home environment for a nominal overnight fee.

 

The 12 Ronald McDonald Houses across Canada provide a home-away-from-home for out-of-town families of children undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals. Each Ronald McDonald House is independently owned and operated by not-for-profit organizations. They rely on the support from many donors in their communities and receive financial and in-kind support from Ronald McDonald House Charities®.

 

 



Ronald McDonald House Charities of Canada (RMHC®) is dedicated to helping children with serious illnesses or disabiliites and their families lead happier and healthier lives. RMHC achieves this by supporting each Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald Family Room™ Program in Canada; it also awards grants to many other chlidren’s charities across the country.

Since it’s inception in 1982, RMHC has awarded more than $47 million in grants to the 12 Ronald McDonald Houses and to many children’s charitable organizations across Canada.
